just like heaven by the cure is on, which brings me first to my new sunday playlist.  it’s five hours long (the amount of time it sufficiently takes to motivate on a sunday), so this is the first bit:
1. clap your hands - is this house on ice
2. jt - carolina in my mind
3. iron + wine - freedom hangs like heaven
4. patty griffin - long ride home
5. blue merle - burning in the sun
6. okkervil river - black sheep boy
7. nick drake - northern sky
8. voxtrot - just like heaven
9. feist - secret heart
10. ra+the cardinals - mockingbirdsing
11. midlake - head home
12. neil young - the painter
13. calexico - cruel
14. alexi murdoch - orange sky
15. paul simon - under africanskies
16. magnetic fields - long forgotten fairy tale
17. of montreal - wraith pinned to the mist and other games
18. amos lee -shout out loud
19. john hiatt - when my love crosses over
20. neko case - fox confessor brings the flood

it’s a deliciously laconic five hours.

well, this was the end to an immensely packed weekend, with another one right around the corner -- at least the news exam is over!  (oh great admissions people, if you’re reading this, please, please please like me!)

there’s also a whole saga worth regurgitation about the phrases “as it were” and “as if such were so,” but i can’t begin to do it justice here.
